Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Secretary of the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). Dr. HUAI is a member of the 19th CPC Central Committee. He once served as President of Beihang University, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and Deputy Secretary of the CPC Tianjin Municipal Committee. As a computer software expert, Dr. HUAI works on software theory, network software system technology and research. He had presided over several national significant research programs and got remarkable achievements. With his major innovative contributions to network software design, software operation & development as well as communications security, Dr. HUAI was awarded the second prize of the National Award for Technological Invention and the second prize of the National Prize for Progress in Science and Technology.

Abstract:
The close relationship between science literacy and human destiny plays a critical role in human progress, sustainable development and the mutual learning between civilizations. Adheringto the vision of leveraging science and technology to serve the people, China has carried out effective explorations and gained practical experience in promoting public science literacy. Facing the future, the international community should uphold mutual trust, win-win cooperation and joint efforts toward our common vision. Under the guidance of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, we must join hands to build a global community of science literacy promotion, build a network for exchanging and sharing high-quality popular science resources, and work together to build a better future.
